flash... does not equate with sound for me.

Although I must say nice effect with the ears in that pannel...

Maybe something more than a barely noticeable (((o))) tonal effect to indicate sound.

Granted, you can tell by the after effects. Still it's confusing and something feels like it was lost in translation.

@GabrielsThoughts: Fair enough. Though when I try other more descriptive onomatopoeia, there's comment on that as well. Maybe I should get a sound effects consultant to blame these things on =P

EDIT: But due to popular demand, here and elsewhere, I ended up changing the effect. It's now "boom", which is boring, and which some people mistakenly think is pronounced "böm", like Inspector Clouseau. I HOPE YOU'RE HAPPY ;)

@Wolfie_Inu: I like the realistic effect the grenades have had on Louwrens and Alex. Most people don't think loud explosions effect ones hearing for some reason...

Good to see that Jane did not simply kill them both. I admit I am a little surprised.

@Lavabat: Thanks! The idea is that they got flashbanged, but GabrielsThoughts up there and other people elsewhere didn't like the original sound effect that went with it ("flash"), so I replaced it with a more generic "boom" sound. That's why they're not getting hit with shrapnel even though they're close enough that Alex got blinded (and Louwrens didn't, because he was looking in the other direction). The real-life equivalent to Jane's gun can fire flashbangs and similar crowd control ammunition. I suppose Jane just had to load a loose round first.

@Wolfie_Inu: That's the thing about flashbangs - there is both a flash, followed by a very loud bang. Perhaps you should have put two sound effects in the first panel?

Reply Wolfie_Inu, December 19th, 2012, 2:46 am

@Lavabat: Two revisions later, I'm in FORGET IT mode right now ... :( Besides, two events need two panels, ideally. I could make up a compound sound effect, but then I get snark about making up sound effects.

You people can make your own comic if you know so much better :P

Reply GabrielsThoughts, December 19th, 2012, 2:06 pm

I apologize for being knit-picky about the sound. I simply believed I should express the emotional and overall psychological impact I perceived while reading it.

I am grateful that you value my opinion. Still, if I feel your comic is in any way as magnificent as Oscar Wilde's Remarkable Rocket, I will be kind enough to let you know as honestly and directly possible.

@Wolfie_Inu: No - I cant draw. Period. Your comic is all good and stuff. :P

Reply Wolfie_Inu, December 19th, 2012, 11:14 pm

Man, don't worry so much guys, I was kidding :P

I do appreciate your ideas, I just need to draw the line before this comic becomes designed by a committee, that's all.

@Wolfie_Inu: Yeah, I know. I was joking in return. :)

Leser, oordeel self.
