The Afrikaans word "kaboedel" has an interesting history. It comes from the American English "caboodle", but has been part of the language for such a long time by now that it's not regarded as an anglicism. But the Americans got it from the Dutch, by way of the expression "kit en kaboedel" (which remains preserved as "kit and caboodle"). Despite the fact that it's a Dutch word, we didn't get it from them, but rather via America.

Is the sound of the gun supposed to sound soft, like a paintball gun or a door slamming? (attribute question not an either or question.)

I would expect a gun that big to make a much louder earth shattering Kaboom... not to mention throw her back a few feet.

I'm not complaining about the sound effect, I'm just surprised. It doesn't seem like the blast would be very loud. The effect seems kind of like a bug sprayer, or like the doors in Star Trek.

@GabrielsThoughts: You're right about the effect, and I agree with you - it seems like it should be louder. But I did some research on how hand-held grenade launchers work. Surprisingly not that loud. And those are 40mm, this is 20mm. If it were shooting a 20mm bullet (rather than a grenade), that would be a different matter.

@Wolfie_Inu: I don't blame Louwrens for not wanting to be brainwashed. Who knows, he might have brainwashing-aphobia. :P

And I am not surprised that Jane can disregard his life so easily in order to achieve her aims.

@Lavabat: Why? What do you have against thought cleansing, tongzhi? =P

@Wolfie_Inu: I like thinking outside the square. Admittedly I have never thought inside the square, but all the same. :P

Also, I have brainwashing-aphobia!
