TRANSLATION:

PANEL 1
Jane: What about no ... not just no, hell no. / Do you understand who the Om-Ankh are? What they did to us ... to me?
Louwrens: ... yes. You're Jane Onoda of Atlantis ... and I'm guessing you have firsthand experience ...
Jane: Well, at least someone's figured it out ... it's not as if I'm trying to hide it ...

PANEL 2
Louwrens: ... listen, these so-called agents you're trying to track down aren't bad people ... they were programmed to do this job against their will ... they're also vict-
Jane: And why do you believe that? Just because they said so? Or do you know something I don't know?
Louwrens: (thinks) The only way that I know we Earthlings aren't on the side of the Anakim is because I'm from Earth ... how do I explain that, and how would Jane react?
(aloud) Um ... well, they told me, and ... um ...

PANEL 3
Jane: You're too gullible ... listen, the Om-Ankh aren't like us! They are merciless ... I know ... / You see, I've had a few years to think about this ...
Louwrens: What do you mean by that now? Your ship was found barely a year ago ...
Jane: ... you can probably be allowed to know ... on my ship, something went wrong ... everyone was awake the whole time, but were left without their senses ... I'm the only one who didn't go insane ... / And in ten thousand years I came to one final conclusion ... the enemy must be eliminated completely to ensure the survival of our species ...

She's Sane, Is She? More and more, I'm beginning to think that the correct statement is 'She's the only one who didn't come out of the box drooling and gibbering.' She's showing all the signs of having come out paranoid.

@Skydancer: Which is a relatively insignificant psychological problem to have, given the situation. But point taken :)

I kind of agree with skydancer, that's rather childlike thinking for ten thousand years of contemplation... She must have spent most of her time fantasizing about an edenic paradise and she's probably an expert liar at this point. After all, she has to believe her own stories.

@GabrielsThoughts: It's also not the full picture. Hold your horses :P

@GabrielsThoughts: Keep in mind her entire civilisation was wiped out, and she walked into her house to see the nuclear shadow of her father and younger brother ... AND she couldn't have been much older than about twelve at that point.

All things considered, she has my sympathy, though she's not right, of course.

Completely eliminating the enemy @Wolfie_Inu: Jane want's to completely eliminate the Om-Ankh - but Louwrens is technically an Om-Ankh (admittedly an un programmed one). Does this imply that she would want to see him killed too?

Reply Wolfie_Inu, September 12th, 2012, 7:22 am

@Lavabat: Probably, if she finds out about him! :o

Reply Lavabat (Guest), September 12th, 2012, 7:35 am

Probably... @Wolfie_Inu: Does probably imply that there is a chance she might not want to kill him in the end? Not really expecting much of an answer to this one - it would be *way* too big a spoiler :)

@Lavabat: "Probably" implies that I'm not gonna tell you, but in a polite way :P

Just as I though @Wolfie_Inu: Yeah, I know! :P
